The Tools, methods And training for CommuniTIes and Society to better prepare for a Crisis (TACTIC) project aimed to increase preparedness to large-scale and cross-border disasters amongst communities and societies in Europe. TACTIC was a two-year project that started in May 2014 and has seven partners from five European countries. Trilateral led the ‘case study 1: terrorism in Europe’ work package examining how preparedness for terrorism is different to preparedness for other types of disaster. Additionally, Trilateral led the ‘Dissemination’ work package, which involved raising awareness of the project with key stakeholders through a wide range of communication channels. The key outputs of the project included a preparedness self-assessment enabling communities to assess how prepared they are for different types of crises (terrorism, floods, earthquakes and epidemics/pandemics) and the identification and categorisation of good practices of communication and education practices for preparedness. All of TACTIC’s outputs are presented in a web-based platform.
