Krzysztof Garstka

Krzysztof Garstka is Research Analyst at Trilateral Research.

He is currently working on the CC-Driver project, with a focus on its data protection and ethical aspects, as well as project management.

Krzysztof’s interests revolves around regulation of information technologies, in the context of data protection, privacy, intellectual property, cybercrime and beyond. Krzysztof holds a particular interest in subjects such as intermediary liability, content filtering, surveillance technologies, and memory digitisation.

Before joining Trilateral, Krzysztof worked on multiple research projects, including a post-doctoral position at the University of Cambridge (Faculty of Law), on the multidisciplinary Human Rights, Big Data and Technology project, which received £5 million in Economic and Social Research Council funding and explored the risks and benefits of big data technologies from the human rights angle. Krzysztof also developed experience in legal teaching, most recently through a lecturer position at the British Law Centre.

Research Background

Krzysztof’s publications appeared in multiple leading journals, such as the International Review of Intellectual Property and Competition Law, European Intellectual Property Review, Journal of Intellectual Property, Information Technology and Electronic Commerce Law, European Journal of Law and Technology and International Data Privacy Law (forthcoming). His chapters appeared in books published by the UN Internet Governance Forum and Wolters Kluwer (forthcoming).

Krzysztof spoke on his research at key conferences in UK, Poland, Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Israel.

Krzysztof holds a PhD in Law from the University of Nottingham, an LLM from the University of Edinburgh and an LLB from the University of York.
