Trilateral Research, a London-based enterprise, specialising in research and the provision of strategic, policy and regulatory advice on new technologies, is seeking to engage one or more Research Analysts. The candidates will be expected to work on Trilateral projects in both the public and private sectors. For more information please see our projects.

The candidate should have a sound understanding of tax laws in Europe and, in particular, tax crime and money-laundering practices, as revealed in the Panama Papers and Paradise papers, among various other examples.

The post-holder will be expected to liaise with project partners and stakeholders across the EU and internationally and to deliver high-quality research and project outputs in a collaborative and supportive research-intensive environment.


Specific job responsibilities include:

  • Developing a tax crime risk assessment methodology that will provide practitioners with a checklist of suspicious behaviour and warning signs indicating a tax crime or money laundering.
  • Contributing to the development of a toolkit for policy-makers helping them to identify evidence in tax crime cases
  • Contributing to the development of a toolkit for law enforcement agencies and tax authorities on the pros and cons of criminal and civil enforcement in tax crimes
  • Organising stakeholder workshops
  • Developing and conducting webinars on the toolkits
  • Writing reports and developing other deliverables as required to fulfil contractual obligations
  • Researching and writing content for grant proposals and tender submissions
  • Writing content for peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, as part of projects, or as an outgrowth from projects
  • Attending and/or presenting at conferences and workshops, involving occasional travel in Europe.


The ideal candidate will have

  • a PhD in economics, taxation and/or finance
  • strong interpersonal skills
  • strong, demonstrable writing skills and preferably will have already published papers in peer-reviewed journals.
