Financial Bookkeeper

We are seeking to engage a Financial Bookkeeper. The successful candidate will provide financial book-keeping and administrative support to colleagues, clients and stakeholders of the business in order to meet business needs.

Key result areas, main activities and responsibilities:

Accounts payable and receivable

  • Recording financial transactions
  • Posting sales and purchase invoices
  • Maintaining company ledgers
  • Managing client invoices & payments
  • Liaising with clients, suppliers and banking contacts
  • Working closely with accountants to prepare VAT returns

Expense admin and accounting support

  • Reviewing and reconciling credit card and individually reported expenses in Concur, in line with company expenses policy and uploading them into QuickBooks

General finance administration

  • Daily usage of financial processes, enhancing and updating where needed
  • Reconciling the bank balances in QuickBooks to the bank statements for various accounts.
  • Maintaining the fixed asset register
  • Any ad hoc responsibilities the Finance team may need support with

Reporting

  • Filing historical records and retrieving necessary documents as needed for others
  • Preparing information for corporate financial reports as requested
  • Providing regularly monthly reporting as required by Corporate or Research finance
  • Preparing and keeping up to date appropriate schedules and reports as requested, including supporting schedules for the monthly management accounts, intercompany and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to this role
  • Use of computer and accounting packages including Microsoft Office including intermediate/advanced Excel skills essential
Required education and experience:

Essential

  • Customer-focused experience
  • Evidence of attention to detail
  • Use of computer and accounting packages including Microsoft Office including intermediate/advanced Excel skills essential
  • Minimum of three years bookkeeping experience
  • Experience with QuickBooks (either Desktop or Online versions)

Desirable

  • Completed or working towards a basic/beginner finance or bookkeeping course
  • Experience assisting with software transitioning

Salary: Commensurate with experience
